    Role Description
    As a Japanese Speaking Consulting and Presales Software Engineer you’ll be engaging with our Japanese customers to explain Instaclustr’s offerings and help support customer’s use of Apache Cassandra and Apache Spark technology.
    To be suitable for this role, you must be fluent in technical, business-level Japanese and have good ability to communicate with other members of our team in English. You will have a good understanding of software design and development concepts, ideally related to big data, databased and/or Java and a strong willingness to develop expertise in Cassandra and Spark.
    The role is based in Canberra, Australia to provide you with close access to our development, consulting and support teams in Canberra. We anticipate most customer engagement will occur remotely with occasional travel to Japan to be expected.

    •Working alongside our Japan-based sales team to explain our offering to technical customers.
    •Providing Japanese-language consulting services and support to Japanese customers, backed by our English-speaking Cassandra and Spark consulting and support experts.
    •Developing your own expertise in Cassandra and Spark.
    Skills and qualifications
    We are looking for someone that is passionate about providing great customer service, has strong technical skills and the ability to work across cultures and languages. We require you to have tertiary qualifications in software engineering or a related discipline and, ideally experience with:
    •Java
    •Big Data or Analytics
    •Cloud environments (preferably AWS)
    The following would be highly regarded and relevant to this role:
    •history of contributing to open source projects
    •experience with Apache Cassandra, Apache Spark or other open source big-data technologies
